Seven year old Nellie won’t be used as a breeding machine again
We have so far managed to track down records that indicate that poor Nellie has had at least five litters (registered ones anyway). ROAR was asked to help this lovely girl as her owner had decided that she was going to be shot…..all because she had almost died as a result of her last pregnancy so was no longer any use to them.
Of course we said yes and Nellie was quickly transported to the sanctuary where she immediately showed us what a sweet, loving middle aged girl she is. After initial vetting we organised a permanent end to her breeding machine days, having her desexed, vaccinated and wormed before returning to the sanctuary and foster care to recover from surgery.
We knew this gorgeous lass wouldn’t be with us long and sure enough we were put in touch with Stephanie who had not long ago said goodbye to one of her two lab ladies. It was love at first sight for Steph and her senior lab Ellie and so Nellie settled in for her trial adoption. (Yep it really is the Nellie and Ellie show).
Nellie has now been with her new family for a month and is enjoying living on a wonderful rural property with her very own river, her new BFF and loads of assorted wildlife and birds that also call it home. We’re certain she is home for life and look forward to visits and updates.
