SNOW JOKE! ROAR WINTER FUNDRAISER
With the cold weather approaching and fluffy winter coats starting to grow in, it’s time at ROAR to turn our attention to making sure everyone on the sanctuary has a place to keep warm and dry for our first winter above the snowline. In preparation for the snow and the cold mountain winds, plans have been drafted for the construction of three paddock shelters where the ROAR equine and goatie crew can bunker down with milo and marshmallows after a hard day on the slopes.
Plans are also underway for building a round yard where our mischievous duo Campbell and Zeb and many more to follow will be able to continue their rehabilitation work ready for adoption.
We are reaching out to the ROAR community for help in making these projects happen and increase our capacity to take on and care for more special needs animals.
We are very fortunate to have the support of a local hardware/ timber yard who will supply materials at reduced price and make our precious dollars stretch much further. There will be no labour costs as we will be doing all the building ourselves, with the help of some willing volunteers. We are also incorporating recycled materials wherever possible, including the use of donated pallets for some funky structural elements.
The three shelters and round yard have been costed at $3990 and we would like to get building by mid-May to make sure we beat the first snow. Your contribution would be hugely appreciated and you can follow our progress, and check out the happy campers when construction is complete, on Facebook and we’ll have a dedicated page right here on our website.
